A series of unfortunate events

Yesterday was really such an unfortunate day, i must mark it down on my calendar to mourn the 1 jun every year.

I went for some quick shopping while waiting for Eugene aft work and got interested in trying some outfits, then i found 2 similer design tops in diff colors which i could not decide which one to buy...."How Pink or Blue? Decisions, Decisions, a valley of decisions.... Pink is nice but i have a lot oredi, Blue is also nice and i dun have a lot, but i do like the way i look in pink".... then just as i was deliberating, Eugene called to hurry me to be on my way to meet him, in a haste, i decided to buy Both as they are on 50% discount....... And the salesgirl stared at me like i was an alien when i told her i was buying both...... just what was her problem, She should have smiled more brightly as i was spending money isn't it? What is it with service staff around?

After the unfortunate supermart incident, i thought Ok, that's it, what else can happen?

Then went to eat dinner at this 24 hr Big food court at shenton way. Eugene wanted to go and order Kway Chap, and the hawker told him to actually gor BIG intestines on the normal set, need to add $3. If not the normal set got no intestines?....... i had eaten Kway Chap for so many times and NEVER ONCE DID I HAVE TO PAY MORE FOR INTESTINES!!!!

Crazy and he insisted that the normal set dun have one.... if it was not because Eugene was the one who spoke to him, i would have asked him : "is there a "Chu Wen" uncle? The pigs are are dying across the land, how come they are selling like gold prices then? " I was not even asking for extra intestines just the normal share and he had to give me such crap?

Sigh, come on leh, for goodness sake we are locals leh, think we so easily conned by his words meh? Anyway we gave up on Kway Chap for the night and decided to order some carrot cake upon strong recommendation from Eugene that it is very delicious. We waited at least 20 mins for the carrot cake to be done as the auntie ran out of plates and went to search for some before she could cook, then when the carrot cake arrived, i was shocked to see the portion was so small that i need i can contain it in my palms!

What a day of unfortuate events!!!

When can we get good service?

So angry and xian about this that i just got to blog my frustrations out ...

Went to some lunch time quick shopping at a supermart

After making some selection, i wanted to look for a cleaner for leather furniture, i walked around the whole place but could not locate any so i approached a staff who had a walkie talkie set with him for assistance.

When i asked him, all he could tell me was "Over there" When i asked him where exactly... he mentioned an ironic statement " Over there, there are so many shelves". Pardon me for my poor understanding, but precisely there were many shelves/categories of stuff that i need precise directions where to go!

In the end he just pointed me to walk further down. I decided to just walk down and see, then i reached the furniture section. I approached another staff sitting at the counter and he told me to look for other staff to check as it was not in his area of responsibility.

I then decided to walk back towards the exit again, i spotted a customer quality counter near the CD section, i approached a staff there, he told me he was not sure too! He mentioned this was the first day of his work and he was still unfamiliar with things and also apparently he was just standing in for a lady who was not at the counter. When i asked him if it was possible that he find a way to to find for me what i needed to know and i explained what i already went through, all he could say what if i want i could wait for the lady but he did not know what time she would come back.

It was disappointing to receive such poor service from the staff and the fact that i had to be re-directed again and again was frustrating for someone like me who had to make use of my lunch hour to do some quick shopping.

I am totally cool about service staff not knowing everything as i understand it is a big supermart and every staff have their area of responsibility, but is there a way to improve such situation? Can there be a centralized place that the staff can check and can new staff be trained well before they are placed at a counter alone? I do not expect to be escorted to the exact location i wish to go but at least can i not be re-directed again and again?

I mean seriously such service attitude is so rampant in singapore, sometimes we as ushers are guilty of giving sub-standard service without the attitude of meeting the needs of others first.

This incident deepen my belief that we must make a difference in this part of the world where service is so lowly valued many a times. Let's make a point to let everyone who step into our building will be so welcome and their stay be so enjoyable.

And yah let's make a difference in the marketplace!

Still trying to cool down........

My Birthday Wish

Once again, the time has come for me to grow a year older, one year wiser.

Looking back for the past 1 year, i cannot help but be thankful of what God had done for me and used me to do. Had a challenging year with great need to expand my capacity to manage 2 sections well; somehow i survived with His grace and anointing and now with the coming of Expo and needing once again to continue to expand my capacity to take on even more challenging positions,,, i pray that God will continue to lead me and show me His ways and wisdom to manage all that will be in my hands.

1 year flew by like an instant, i could still remember vividly many events as though it was yesterday. Remembered many dear ones, lamenting for some lost ones but well like Flor always say "life goes on" but i really want to take this time to thank all these lovely and wonderful friends, comrades, co-workers that without you guys and gals i will never be where i am today. You had in one way or another helped to mould my character, some of you simply tested my patience and the ability to use His agape love on you. Ha Ha. But seriously i love and appreciate every single one of you .....

Firstly, to appreciate my 5566

Thank you guys and gals for making my time with you ppl so enjoyable and fulfilling. Knowing that each one of you has gained something from me is comforting, to me no matter what has happened, it is all worth it if you all are now filled with enough love and strength to now go and sow into others, carry the legacy of our svc forward, even if in the future we may end up in different sections, let's still remember our motto, that we are always family; loving ppl feverently, that in everything you do, just remember to love people, even in scoldings, smoothen it with encouraging and loving words, that to see our ushers' max. potential being achieved in the ministry to become our utmost goal. Some of you are great leaders in your own right, some of you on the way to become wonderful leaders; i just want to say i am so proud of all of you; your willingness and commitment to Him have always touched my heart, never a moment i doubt your willingness to go all out for the Lord!

Hui and Sand - You gals are my wonderful left and right hand, without you all i really do not know how to survive till this day. Thank you for taking such good care of the sections esp. when i am tied down with the ministry admin. Thank you again, i can never ask for better armour bearers like you gals!

Hui, no words can express express how much i love you, you know that right?Your strength and resilience inspires me, your ability to simply preserver and press on no matter what is a gem which will become a great asset for you in leadership. Just speak out more yah, dun be afraid to bore me down with your pressures and stuff, i will be more than willing to share your burdens.

Sand - Some ppl may see you as the "softer" kind, but i recognize you as one with great internal strnegth, you may look a bit of a the fairer sex on the outside, but i know you are tough in your heart. You have gone through so many challenges too, but yet many a times even when you fell, you picked yourself up again, i know it hurted, but you always make the decision to just press on and trust in Him. You have so much potential in you that has yet to be unleashed, your love for the ppl around you is so evident in the time you always is willing to spend with them. All you need now is to believe in yourself that you can achieve all that you want to be! Go Go Gal, i am excitedly awaiting the many more great exploits He will do through you, the many lives that are being inspired and you are going to inspire through you!

Ming, Ivory, Jan, Wei, Ti, Kwang, Jie, David - Thank you for being such strong pillars of support in the section, without you ppl, no matter how hard the SLs work, the sections will still not be stable as they are now.

Girls : you all know the heart i have for you all, i think i do not need to spell it out, you will also understand *wink*. To me all of you are strong women in tough times! Continue to breakthrough your own lives, remember the sky is NOT even the limit in Him! Problems or issues may come, but i know your hearts are more than able to handle and overcome for His strength is in you yah? Jia You my dears... will always be praying for you all, you all are always on my mind! *hugz*

Kwang - Remember your understanding heart is your strength, use it well. A good leader needs to be a good listener and be able to relate well to his ppl to be able to help them effectively. You always give ppl a very comforting feeling and ppl trust you. Use this gift that God has given to you well to inspire, touch, make a differences in the lives of the people God has given to your hands. I am seeing the making of a great leader!

David- Thank you for your great support, you are a strong leader in your own right and i always feel so blessed having you around, cos i know everything will be in good control. Thank you for your words of encouragement; to be able to be supported by you is really a great comfort and joy to my heart. I pray that you will continue to have great growth and looking forward to all the great "fruits" you are going to produce!

Jie - have told you before that your positive personality is truly unique, a great gift that he has given you, use it well to encourage and bless the ppl around you, this powerful gift can bring ppl out of darkness, let them see that there is still hope in the storm ahead. You are so infectious with your joy; always cannot help to smile whenever i think of you...really you can become a great inspiration with just some twitching. Go on.... let your dreams become a reality!

Hong and Ding - My greatest desire is for you all to find the route to the fulfillment of your dreams...i know you guys will figure out a way to reach the destination you desire, Just let Him lead you all there, let go and let Him. Many a times, we need to remind ourselves to let go of past failures and mistakes, they are just stepping stones, gaining you experience and more wisdom in the process. Let's just keep running the race together yah!

Hmm think this is becoming the longest blog ever, but i am like kind of not even 1/3 done. So no choice, have to be less "a ma"

To my dear CG members - You guys and gals are the BEST-EST! Cannot imagine spending my time with any other grp of ppl, the fun, joy, pain we shared are unforgettable experiences that allowed us to grow and mature together, it is interesting how ppl of vast differences like each one of us are able to come together and get along and end up loving and willing to lay down our lives for one another. God works in mysterious ways. Ha! Looking forward to greater challenges we will conquer together even as we prepare for Expo!

And to the countless ppl who have always in one way of another touched me and inspired me to be the leader i am today, i cannot express my gratitude enough in words. I will show my thankfulness to all of you by continuing striving to be a better leader in Him, praying that the Holy Spirit will lead me; without Him i am nothing; with Him i can overcome the world!

Happy Birthday to myself! With all my thanks said and wishes made, it's time to blow out the candles.......

What My Birth Date Means ??

Saw this on Hui's Blog... could not resist the temptation to try...http://www.blogthings.com/whatdoesyourbirthdatemeanquiz/

Your Birthdate: May 25
Your birth on the 25th day of the month (7 energy) modifies your life path by giving you some special interest in technical, scientific, or other complex and often hard to understand subjects. ( Ah...This one like not so true leh, really not into much science... hmm hmm)

You may become something of a perfectionist and a stickler for details. (OK! That's Me! Yes it's Me! Yes i see my hand, Yes i see my hand ....Hee)

Your thinking is logical and intuitive, rational and responsible. (Ok, true)

Your feelings may run deep, but you are not very likely to let them show. (This is quite true too....i dun show my deep feelings very openly often...hmmm)

This birthday makes you a more private person, more introspective and perhaps more inflexible. (Hmm.. private and introspective yes, well, there are some things that i may be sticking to my principles no matter what hmmm)

In friendships you are very cautious and reserved. (Let's put it this way, i am cautious with the close friends i have, ppl i open up to are likely the ppl who are relaly close, if not normally ppl are going to get the diplomatic side of me hmm....)

You are probably inventive, and given to unique approaches and solutions. (Hmm... Unique approaches i wouldn't say but yes i will think of all ways and means to solve the problems)

OVERALL... DRUM ROLL... think i will give this analysis a 70% approval rate! What do you think?
